The annual Raptor Watch is flying back to the shores of Tanjung Tuan once again! If you have missed the last year's Raptor Watch, this is your chance to witness migratory birds of prey, or raptors, on their journey from wintering sites in Indonesia and Australia to the north. In this year 2019, this event will hold for 2 days to accommodate the overwhelming support and was announced that it will be held on 9-10 March 2019 (Saturday & Sunday) at the Tanjung Tuan Forest Reserve.

Besides, to welcome the 20th anniversary of Raptor Watch, Malaysian Nature Society is holding a special four-day event for this year. In conjunction with Raptor Watch 2019, a conference will be held from 7-8 March 2019. The events and dates are as highlighted below:

Tanjung Tuan, previously known as Cape Rachado, is an area about 17km away from the Port Dickson, which is most notable for its status as an important bird area designated by Birdlife International. It is a natural home for thousands of birds, especially during the spring migration period. Besides a home, it is a place where raptors gather to stop and rest after their trip across the Straits of Malacca, before continuing their long journey back towards their breeding grounds in the northern hemisphere like China and Japan, where the climate will soon turn warmer.

Let's have a look at a 5-minute video of the Raptor Watch 2018 events, and see what you can do during the Raptor Watch.

Another quick video of Raptor Watch in a few years ago, enjoy watching :D

For parents with children and kids, it's time to bring them along to the Raptor Watch 2019 to embrace the nature and captivate their imagination about raptor and birds. You and your children will be led by experienced and knowledgeable guides who also educate them on the need to preserve and conserve the natural heritage we are blessed with. The activities will help develop and nurture their knowledge and appreciation of birds, wildlife and nature.

Do check out their featured booths and exhibitions on equipment, like digital cameras, binoculars and digiscopes. And also arts, crafts and various fun games such as art and poster drawings and story-telling competitions based on raptors and nature themes. It follows then with the main stars of the day - our majestic raptors who will be circling around the iconic Cape Ricardo lighthouse on top of the hill.

Ready to go? Don't forget to bring along your binoculars and watch them dance majestically in circles high in the sky! Be careful, as they may come near overhead, spot and identify the different species of them in thousands. Take out your long lens or any cameras, try to capture them and add to your bird photo collections!

Anyone travelling from far? Since you have traveled to Port Dickson, you don't want to miss going to their well-known beaches and explore other tourist destination! So I suggest you find an accommodation for your overnight stay, check out the below list of homestays which is near to Tanjung Tuan as well as easy to access other attractions!
