Kota Laksamana is located a stone's throw away from the historical Jonker Street and the beautiful Straits Of Melacca. Some history enlightenment, Kota Laksamana was once originally a sea area alongside Taman Melaka Raya and had been reclaimed land as it was part of the Melaka coastal development project back then in the late 1990s.

In the present day, Kota Laksamana has emerged as one of the best food paradise destination in Melaka as you will get to find a vast variety of food cuisine ranging from Local, Indian, Western and Asian cuisines. Surely, this is the place where you will drool for food and desserts as you will spend most of your time exploring the wonders of this area.

Nyonya cuisines

Donald and Lily's

During the day of Kota Laksamana as you are craving for some local delicacy, you might be interested in trying out Donald and Lily's as they serve one of the best Nyonya food around Melaka. No doubt that the food there are awesome as you will need to queue up to be served (It will be worth the wait ! Just hang in there).

One of the recommended and demanded food by the locals and tourists is the Nasi Ketuk, commonly referred to as the "blue rice". The rice is fragrant on its own and by adding the ayam rendang it would be a lot tastier as it mixes so well that you could actually puke rainbow ! ... literally.

The Laksa is one of Donald and Lily's most craved dish as the taste is just right and awesome as it is alluring to our taste buds. Not the be missed is the price of this dish is reasonable and you could not find any laksa with the same price and taste. The downside is that the taste is inconsistent as they tend to put in lots of santan but overall it still tastes good.

Western cuisines

Kensington Restaurant

One of the best western cuisines in Kota Laksamana as it provides a huge variety of choices from their menu that might give you a hard time making up your mind about what to eat (in a good way). One of the recommended dishes that will sizzle your meal is the sizzling grilled chicken tap with ham & cheese served with butter cream sauce.  While the price is reasonably cheap, it provides a great combination of food into one as the ham and chicken unison perfectly with the sauce !

Next, the oyster cheese is one of the best light dishes to start with before proceeding with your main meal. Slightly fattening with the overflowing cheese but if you play by the "You Only Live Once #YOLO" rule, guaranteed that it will bring satisfaction to your meal. Worth the price and taste. No regrets !

Besides, the seafood chowder is an awesome starter to try if you are a seafood lover ! If you order the garlic cheese bread it would be the best addition that goes well with the soup.

Indian cuisine

Restoran Pak Putra

<pak putra shop>

One of the places that will certainly pop out from your mind whenever you are in Kota Laksamana would be Pak Putra. No doubt that the tandoori is currently the best in Melaka and tourists would certainly get the privilege to try this place out. Not only tourist but locals especially among teenagers prefer this place for their nightlife gathering. Having to wait for a place to sit can be difficult as you would need to wait for approximately 15 minutes but it will be worth the wait. Psst .. at the brighter side, the waiting time is shorter compared to Capitol Satay Celup.

There are several types of naans and it goes well together with the tandoori chicken. It is recommended to order the vegetable curry as it is fresh and fragrant !

Asian cuisine

<old restaurant map>

Bei Zhan was once located along the row of shops at Jalan Melaka Raya 23 back in 1995 - 2009 and the present day you will find Palsaik Korean BBQ, Dapune Korean buffet and Wok & Pan along the street. In the year of 2009, Bei Zhan relocated to a corner lot, unique building base to accommodate all kinds of occasions and functions

The braised pork and broccoli was excellent. The meat was very soft and tender which could only mean that it was likely to be braised for a long time. Besides, the fatty parts were soft and juicy. One of the recommended dish in Bei Zhan.

Next, the curry fish was simply amazing but it is slightly spicy. The fish is fresh and it is well cooked. It is encourageable to pour the curry and mix it together with your rice !

Similar to Tong Wok, Wonderful Steamboat provides almost the same ingredients but they have more meat choices compared to Tong Wok. If you are a meat lover, you might want to try this place out. The downside is that you are not allowed to cook the meat yourself as you have to surrender it to the staffs to cook it for you.
