Alun Retreat

perfect 5!!! Excellent location, breathtaking view, mesmerizing sunset, glimmering starlight at night! Rooms are clean with great and complete amneties, perfectly working AC and all other equipments. Staffs are very polite, kind, helpful and resourceful. Breakfast not much of choice but the ones available ( nasi lemak, kuey teow, kuih keria, curry puff, free flow marigold fruit juices, cereals) were delicious enough with ample portuon for everyone. Came here with my family for raya holiday. Got ourselves 2 executive rooms. Everyone had a wonderful time, from my 2 year old girl, to my mum in law, all of them gave 2 thumbs up, and cant stop talking about it for the next couple days! That’s how great this place is! You’ll say the same too I’m sure. Highly recommend to everyone. P.S : Please be truthful about no of pax. I saw a family was turned down with full reimbursement due to underdeclaring a family member. Its a strict protocol of theirs.

Now, where shall I start? The two and a half hours of driving from KL to Lumut? Well, actually that was the ONLY drawback of our 2 days and 1 night business trip to Pulau Pangkor. After that, everything was in the superlatives!! The 5 minutes boat ride from the Marina Island berthing dock to the fishermen's jetty at Pangkor Island was the first amazing experiance, to begin with. Maybe the stars were all alligned perfectly, or the waves were being "respectful" to their namesake, but the "Alun 2" speedboat had carried our Party of 6 very smoothly in the shortest amount of time. One minute we were posing for pictures inside the boat, and a few minutes later we were already dragging our luggages on the boardwalks of the fishermen's jetty!! My wife and I hadnt been to Pangkor Island for at least 5 years already, and with the relatively new "Duty Free" tag bestowed upon this island, we just didnt know what to expect. So, when we finally arrived at the brightly orange colored "stacks of boxes", we were more amazed than surprised!! "Such audacity", was my initial reaction...But as we alighted off our vehicles and moved closer towards the Admin Block, the impact of its pureness and simplicity dawned upon us...It was a Container Hotel, and it never pretended to be something else!! My wife and I were given a room on the upper level, accessible through a flight of wide metal stairways, as well as a circular staircase at the metal deck, on the other side. My collegue and his wife were placed at the lower unit, but was facing the opposite site. Their unit opened directly to the ground level. Interestingly, the placement of the container blocks were not done at random. In fact, they were carefully thought out, taking into consideration how to maximize the views facing the ocean, ease of circulation and maintenance, privacy for each unit, and the proximity to the beach, which is, arguably the most valuable asset!! Our gracious hosts had planned out the whole itinerary for us for the rest of the day. While the men had to take care of some business, and further explore the whole island, the ladies were treated to some old fashioned traditional massages in their own rooms. After a quick dinner at the cool cafe overlooking the spectacular sunset, the ladies wanted to check out some duty free items at the shops nearby. As a result, I only managed to get in my room quite late, at almost 10:00 pm! But by then, everything began to make perfect sense to me. It IS a basic container room, and you basically just need it for sleeping, showering and your toilet needs. You are NOT expected to hang out inside the room during the day, as there is a whole life out there on the beach!! Like they say, " Life's a beach!!" Bedtime came, and I could swear that the kingsized mattress and the huge cushiony pillows were the most comfortable sleeping companions ever!! Maybe we were just simply exhausted, but my wife and I never bothered to consider the fact that we were sleeping inside a hard and edgy metal box...and sleeping like babies we surely did!! The next morning, we were already up and walking before dusk, to catch the picturesque sunrise. A romantic morning stroll by the seaside had its virtues, and before we realized it, we were already at the very end of the beach. A morning shower caught us by surprise, and we had to rush back to the cafe for a hearthy breakfast of nasi lemak bungkus and toasts with Nutella spread. The cool cafe offered all types of "help yourself" kind of foods, and that had resulted in our over extended breakfast hour... Next, it was time to check out and bid adieu to Alun Retreat...but these fond memories linger for a lot longer...Maybe we should stay for a few more days the next time around?

My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Alun Retreat, and let me tell you, it was an experience we won't soon forget! From start to finish, every aspect of our stay was simply exceptional. First and foremost, the convenience of having a private boat transport us directly to Nelayan Jetty set the tone for the extraordinary journey ahead. Arriving at the entrance of the resort, we were greeted with awe-inspiring scenery that left us breathless. The sheer beauty of the surroundings made us feel like we had stepped into a paradise. Our room, nestled near the beach, provided the perfect balance of privacy and accessibility. While the space was limited, it was more than adequate for our family of four. The plush bed and pillows ensured a restful night's sleep, and the addition of a broom in the room was a thoughtful touch to help keep the sand at bay. One of the highlights of our stay was the ease with which we could access the beach, restaurant, and shops. Whether we were soaking up the sun on the pristine shores or indulging in delicious meals at the on-site restaurant, everything was just a stone's throw away. Speaking of meals, the breakfast concept at Alun Retreat was a delightful surprise. The free and easy approach allowed us to leisurely enjoy a variety of delectable foods each morning, setting the perfect tone for the day ahead. Last but certainly not least, the staff at Alun Retreat were beyond friendly and accommodating. Their warmth and hospitality truly enhanced our experience and made us feel right at home. In summary, our time at Alun Retreat was nothing short of magical. From the convenience of private boat transport to the cozy rooms and friendly staff, every aspect exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for a dreamy escape in paradise. ⛵🌴

A very good residence, very clean and with very pleasant and cooperative staff. I would only have to make one recommendation, the coffee room is obviously small but for that you can go to the terrace or the balcony itself, my recommendation would be to put small hand trays to carry breakfast up the stairs best regards

Perfect place for family holiday! We had such a great time there for 3 days 2 nights. The only thing is that they don’t do housekeeping on daily basis, hence no mineral water refill and no make up of bed everyday. Breakfast is enough and the view is magnificient. Gonna come here again next time.
